“In 2013 Diabetes ACT needed some help with maintaining ISO9001 accreditation. I was nervous about hiring a contractor even though Practical Editing came highly recommended. I met with them, we negotiated a rate, and got started.

Clare worked partly in the office and both her and Johann worked on some items off site with Clare being my prime contact.

I was impressed from the start by their integrity and attention to timekeeping. I never needed to question if a timesheet was accurate. It meant we got excellent value for money as only time ‘on task’ was recorded and billed. Honesty and confidentiality have always been demonstrated.

Clare is always happy to help and goes out of her way to make sure we get what we need. If she doesn’t know the answer, she’ll swiftly find the right information and get on with it.

We’ve rehired Practical editing and tasks they’ve done for us have included business process mapping, policies and procedures, work instructions, forms and templates, spreadsheets, formatting, a magazine article, website main content, blogs, and carrying out our in-house WHS audit including managing removing and mitigating risks. They’ve always just made things less stressful. I’ve found I can ask for anything and know it would be done and to a high standard.
I highly recommend you give them a go.”

“Johann and Claire exceeded our expectations when we asked them to edit a lengthy report for the Institute of Child Protection Studies. The quality of the editing was excellent, with very helpful suggestions that improved the overall readability and quality of the report. Practical Editing were a pleasure to deal with at every step in the process – they kept us informed, responded quickly to our requirements, and took the time to understand our business and the context for our report. I was particularly impressed by their follow up support after the work had been completed, to assist us in integrating the changes. I recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone seeking a professional editing service with faultless customer service and a track record of delivering quality work.”

“Johann and Clare worked with me to find out what I wanted, and then made it happen. The outcome was still my words but it flowed well and looked good.”

“In mid 2014 at the Canberra Grief Centre we wanted to check that our website text was free of errors and easy to follow. We also needed the text for brochures edited.

Clare and Johann provided a more thorough service than I had expected. The edits they suggested were very helpful and appropriate and their feedback and suggestions on the website included a report outlining how some sections could be more logically arranged and linked. Johann included images from the website to clearly demonstrate these suggestions. They also picked up mistakes and oversights that we just weren’t aware of as we’d looked at the text so many times

Johann and Clare were very happy to help and made sure they understood what we were after.

I have no reservations recommending their services to others.”

“Johann and Clare at Practical Editing have done a range of work for ASEAMCO.

When Practical Editing first started we subcontracted to them to write a business plan for which the information from the client was scant. To fill data gaps, they developed specific questions to put to the client and proceeded to put together an excellent business plan. Following this first success, we engaged Practical Editing to edit a JORC report. They learnt what was required for such reports very quickly and are now proficient in constructing and editing JORC reports where we deliver the technical information to be used. Clare and Johann take the information, put it into the report, format, edit, and tailor the presentation for the audience. Clare has demonstrated that she is committed to customer service and once worked right through the night with me to deliver a report due the following day.

More recently, Johann led the way on an EMDG application we submitted in 2014. He read the relevant Act and complemented that information with his experience working with grants.

He and Clare went to the information session, organised the paperwork, worked out exactly what the assessors were looking for, helped me submit and all for significantly less than what was quoted elsewhere. Rather than taking a percentage cut, they gave me a capped price and didn’t charge for learning time.

I’ve used them for personal tasks as well where they’ve worked out what the audience was looking for and ensured the document was fit for purpose.”
